Crossed by Allie Condie

(Format used for this read: Audiobook)

This is the second book in this YA series I got hooked into (you can see my review of the first one “Matched” a few reads ago:

Here is a quick summary:

“The highly anticipated second book in the New York Times bestselling Matched trilogy!

Perfect for fans of 1984, Brave New World, Black Mirror, and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Chasing down an uncertain future, Cassia makes her way to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky–taken by Society to his certain death–only to find that he has escaped into the majestic, but treacherous, canyons. On this wild frontier are glimmers of a different life . . . and the enthralling promise of rebellion. But even as Cassia sacrifices everything to reunite with Ky, ingenious surprises from Xander may change the game. On the edge of Society, nothing is as expected, and crosses and double crosses make Cassia’s path more twisted than ever.”

When I read the first book I was intrigued…

writing was kinda flat and plot kinda predictable…

but I still kept reading.

Samesies with this book…

EXCEPT…

I did feel like there was WAY more unexpected plot twists and a little more in depth character angst than the last book.

I enjoyed that in this book the author switched back and forth between Cassias voice and Kys voice, letting their own voices and their perspectives give totally different insights on the same circumstances.

I mean…this is TOTALLY the YA genre y’all…

dystopian society, young love, troubled family dynamics, not the best writing style…

But if you are into those kinda things like I am, then this series is completely your thing FOR REALS!

I love deep thought provoking books that make my brain hurt…

I also love books that totally rip my heart out of my chest….

I also love books that teach me new things about the world and history and cultures that I was not aware of before….

I also love weird and strange books which make me have super off handed dreams… 🤣

But every now and then a girl has gotta have some literary fluff solely for mindless entertainment.

And this is grade A fluff which I thoroughly enjoyed 🤣

So….now I’m totally hooked and have to see how this all ends up..

I’m on the library wait list for book 3 so stay tuned…
